beneficence, nonmaleficence, fidelity and veracity
Overview
For this discussion, you will further explore how the Code of Ethics guides professional practice. Nurses provide care to patients and their families on an ongoing basis. The Code of Ethics identifies that nurses have a duty to act with beneficence, nonmaleficence, fidelity, veracity, while providing patients with autonomy and justice.
1. Read/Watch the materials provided in Instructional Material and Learning Activities (All Module 4 materials).
2. In your discussion board post, you will choose two of the listed Code of Ethics duties (beneficence, nonmaleficence, fidelity, veracity) for the nurse and translate the meaning of the words into your own words. (Define in your own words – up to 50 words)
3. You will create a written mini-scenario (200-300 words), indicating use of your two chosen duties (beneficence, nonmaleficence, fidelity, veracity). Make sure that your scenario clearly identifies use of the two duties. This can be an interaction that you have experienced or one that you imagine.
4. A minimum of two (2) references must be included in this post. The provided Code of Ethics link and article do NOT count as one of the references but may be used to support information.
- The length of the post is to be 500 words
Your initial post must be posted before you can view and respond to colleagues, must contain minimum of two (2) references, in addition to examples from your personal experiences to augment the topic. No late discussion response posts will be accepted. The goal is to make your post interesting and engaging so others will want to read/respond to it. Synthesize and summarize from your resources in order to avoid the use of direct quotes, which can often be dry and boring. No direct quotes are allowed in the discussion board posts.
PLEASE RESPOND TO 2 OF YOUR PEERS’ POSTINGS. You must include at least one (1) peer-reviewed reference in response to each peer response.
