Discussion 3: Avoiding Plagiarism
It is suggested that psychology students be very careful when summarizing previous studies. If you summarize straight from the source, it is too easy to inadvertently plagiarize. It is best to first read the original source and then take your own notes (in your own words) to ensure that you are summarizing in your own voice and words (McBride, 2020). Use your notes to help you summarize for your paper. The important point is that you must credit the author for their information any time that you quote or summarize their words and ideas. Intentional and unintentional plagiarism actions are both serious ethical violations!
