Your task is to take one side of the argument and persuade your audience that you have well-founded knowledge of the topic being presented. It is important to support your argument with evidence to ensure the validity of your claims, as well as to refute the counterclaims to show that you are well informed about both sides.
Focus on the topic
Develop your argument using clearly stated reasons and relevant evidence
Organize your paper in a clear and logical manner that positions your claim in relation to other positions on the issue
Document all sources using APA format. Work hard to synthesize the information in your words and cite information as required.
Write in a style that is clear, not repetitive and uses correct grammar, spelling, sentence structure and punctuation.
You position paper must include the following sections:
Introduction- Introduce the topic and provide background information as to why it is relevant and how it relates to you academically, personally and globally.
Counterargument- Summarize the counterclaims. Provide information for counterclaims. Refute counterclaims and introduce evidence for your argument.
Argument- You must state a minimum of 3 claims. Each claim should give your educated and informed opinion and then provide support or proof for each point.
Conclusion- Restate your argument. Summarize without introducing any new information. The point is to reflect upon the information you presented and state a plan of action.
