* By moving images, we mean not only traditional film or video, but cinema in a broad sense, including digital platforms, visual art, and the so-called “expanded cinema” of communications technology, the Internet, etc.
How do combinations of images produce meaning in cinema, intermedia, and/or expanded cinema?
How has new media effected changes in visual art and what do these changes reflect in ourselves and/or our society?
Evaluation
We will evaluate your project based on how well it demonstrates your ability to:
Interpret and critically analyze images (including moving images)
Analyze and form arguments with evidence
Interpret and use academic texts in forming arguments/analysis
Apply an understanding of filmic concepts (e.g. montage)
Provide accurate information (all relevant names, dates, titles, etc. must be correct)
Collaborate: actively listen, learn from one another, and value one another’s contributions
