strategic bombardment.

Employed extensively by the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) and Britain’s Royal Air Force (RAF), the strategic bombardment concept had similar goals for both air forces, but was practiced in a very different manner. In a three to four page essay, single spaced, explain the concept and execution of strategic bombardment and be sure to address the following issues: who is credited with the theory of strategic bombardment after WWI?  What is the “independent mission” concept for air forces?  Why did the RAF shift from daylight to nighttime bombing?  What was “area bombing” and how did that differ from the USAAF’s approach?  By mid-war, what was the stated purpose of the RAF’s and the USAAF’s bombing campaign?  Why did the USAAF change its approach entirely when it came to furthering the bombardment of Japan in 1945? As before, employ a minimum of four credible sources, especially published book and journal articles, employing the Chicago Manual of Style format for footnotes and bibliography. The due date is just prior to midnight on Tuesday, November 2nd.  Submit your essay as a Word attachment to this email address.
