Engaging Group Study

They have had three sessions and feels that the first two sessions went well, but the third session did not. Lorinda met with their supervisor and discussed the group’s progress. They realized that maybe the first two sessions went well because members were still getting to know each other and were engaged in discussing their combat experiences. In the third session, members were not as talkative, and Lorinda had not planned for ways to get members to share. Lorinda’s supervisor asked them what topics were important to the members. Lorinda said they were not sure. The supervisor suggested that Lorinda find out important topics for the members and then plan how he will get members to share at a deeper, more meaningful level. What specific kinds of rounds and exercises would you suggest that Lorinda use to help their group go to a more meaningful level? Why do you think the first sessions went well and the third one did not? What key mistake did Lorinda make?In response to your peers, suggest some skills and techniques that Lorinda might use to make the next sessions of the group more meaningful.
