REPORT IDEA: Not all tourism destinations are good places to LIVE. E.g. they may be great to visit but resident unrest of environmental degradation has hurt these destinations. Your report is focused on how to make a destination a better place to live (and visit).
PREPARATION:
Find a destination (Venice) which was no longer deemed a good place to live then you will outline how it can improve its destination management by providing recommendations to improve (using best practices and examples that are comparable from other destinations). Ensure you include a tourism model.
Then here is what you will need to do for your assignment:
REPORT INSTRUCTIONS
Outline in an introduction: the destination and outline of what your paper will include (1 page)
Background: outline the problem… why this destination is no longer a good place to live. What P’s of marketing are most evident. Are they soft or hard?
Include location, type of destination, size etc. (approx. 1 page)
Discuss management and marketing implications of tourism (the implications of not solving the problem) (e.g., increased visitor numbers, overuse of resources, community impacts etc.). Check out the competitive destination to give you some ideas of what to include.
Use at least three academic sources in APA formatting to justify your discussion and provide facts (approx. 2 pages).
Provide some recommendations for how this destination has or could address this issue to make it a better place to live (and visit).
Provide a rationale for your recommendations. Provide at least three recommendations using an destination best practices as a case study/reference (Should include reputable sources using APA to justify) (2-3 pages).
Outline which tourism model or tool (see screenshots in next page) would be most useful to use for management of tourism and why.
Outline what elements of the tool will help manage and discuss how the destination could use it (Should include reputable sources using APA to identify the model and why it would be a good model to use) (1 -2 pages).
Conclusion:
Summarise the key issue and which recommendation should be a priority for moving forward (approx.. ½ page).
KEY CONSIDERATIONS:
Use at least 8 sources of which 2 must be related to the model and an additional 2 must be from journals or academic books). Wiki and other such sites are NOT CREDIBLE and should not be used
