Rhetorical analysis requires you to examine and critique/evaluate the following:
Who the speaker is and what he/she/they bring with them in terms of clues about knowledge and experience that qualify (or fail to qualify) them to speak on the topic at hand.
what the publishing website offers to lead you to trust (or fail to trust) it? These first two bullet points add up to
What the message(s) they are conveying really are. For this element, you will summarize the points the writers are trying to convince their audience to accept as true.
What the clues or evidence about the writer’s intended audience
What evidence (examples, data, etc) is given and how effective or ineffective the data is in supporting the claims made. These elements add up to the discussion’s reliability.
What possible bias may be shown in the discussion. Remember, bias can be shown by what is not said as well as what is.
Finally, discuss whether or not elements of the article as written convince you of the validity of the points included.
