Your first major essay will be a narrative. This assignment is designed to help you find a topic and how to approach it. Before beginning, be sure to read the attached assignment description and “Things Lost,” a great example of an undergraduate narrative essay. In one to two pages, provide a synopsis of your topic. Essentially, summarize
what/who you will be writing about and (primarily) how the experience changed you in
a significant, powerful way.
I should be able to clearly understand your direction for the narrative essay from your
proposal. The purpose of this assignment is for me to ensure that you have identified
an appropriate theme and focus before you begin writing your essay. My feedback to
you may include suggestions for further development or a new direction.
