As an overview of the breadth and scope of public health nursing, let’s also look at the Public Health Intervention Wheel. Community health nurses often use this model to plan and implement health promotion for population groups. There are three levels of practice: (a) systems-focused, (b) community-focused, and (c) individual-focused. These overlay the 17 public health interventions. See your textbook for definitions of each of these 17 interventions (Nies & McEwen, 2019).
