Nurses as a Learner and Teacher

Nurses are role models for students.

Nurse educators provide ongoing mentorship and serve as examples to students through various stages of hands-on learning. It’s an especially important role in clinical development, where students look to their teachers for feedback on patient interaction, decision-making, and health assessment.

Patient education is a significant part of a nurse’s job. Education empowers patients to improve their health status. When patients are involved in their care, they are more likely to engage in interventions that may increase their chances for positive outcomes.

Discuss the following:

1 – Guidelines for effective learning and teaching.

2 – Choose one learning theory and briefly describe.

3 – What teaching activities are you involved in during your nursing practice?

APA reference for a resource, other than the textbook is required to receive full points for this week’s original posting in this threaded discussion.
