Psychology of Gender Differences
Paper Guidelines
PSY 3203 – Fall 2022
Students are expected to create a paper that examines gender within society using a piece of popular media. Each student will select a topic from the list provided (see below) and present a 5-7 page paper. Students will submit this paper via CANVAS to Dr. Stafford NO LATER than the end of class (10:45 am) on Tuesday, November 29th. The Turnitin function in CANVAS will be used for your submission.
Presentations will examine gender presented in one of the following:
Movie/movie series
Book/book series
Television/Streaming show
Comic book series/Manga series/graphic novel
Video game
Papers will contain the following project objectives:
Brief summary of the media item (do not assume the instructor has familiarity with it) and its current place in society

What are 5-8 concepts from the course that are demonstrated in this media selection (provide examples)? These should be bolded in the text so they are easily identifiable to the instructor

What gender stereotypes are present in your media?
How might your media influence men? women? Transgender/nonbinary individuals?
What are the mental health implications of how your media presents gender?
As a future mental health (or other) professional, how might you help an identified character within the media if they were a client?
