Health Promotions Project Proposal Outline
Title: Opioid Epidemic – Early Aged Adults increasing the use of Opioids
Problem: 1. The problems with the different ways opioids can be injected to get quicker and “more effective” results.
2. The time frame it can take to become addicted is as little as 5 days.
3. The life circumstances that lead a young adult to feel the need to consume or get prescribed to these drugs.
Target Population: Young aged adults and parents
Intervention:
Death rates, abusive use
Information on the background knowledge of opioids, the different kinds and what they’re supposed to be used for.
Prescription drug monitoring programs
Supervised injection facilities
Rationale: Informing parents on how to avoid the over use, and incorrect usages of these drugs.
To bring light to positive ways these drugs can effect people.
To avoid any confusion on the difference between misuse, addiction, abuse and correct usage of these drugs.
Objectives:
People will be aware that this is a real life issue and is way more common than people know.
This is killing humans more often than we think accidentally and purposely
We are relying on medications to create our happiness and increase our well being instead of finding out for ourselves what we live for and what makes us as humans happy.
Models / Theories:
My theory is that we get so caught up in feeling absolutely nothing, or absolutely everything all at the same time we get lost in what’s real and what isn’t.
Technical Approach:
Prescription Drug monitoring program
Formulary management strategies and insurance programs such as prior authorization quantity limits and drug utilization review
Quality improvement programs and healthcare systems to increase implementation of recommended prescribing practices
Improve awareness and share resources about the risks of prescription opioids and cost of overdose on patients and families
Patient education on safe storage and disposal of prescription opioids
State prescription drug laws
Timeline:
Measures: From the time they begin taking the opioids to the time they either stop, learn to control their usage, or overdose on the usage.

Medical funds
Medical research and data supply
Marketing:
Presenting presentations to colleges and home high schools
Engage in student activities
Create a way to promote and get the word out by posting around towns, flyers, bill boards etc.
