The tool that I chose to research was Webroot Endpoint Protection. Working as a tech support for a school district a common issue I have seen is online threats against teachers, whether is it through emails or sites that they have visited. We have a filtering software in place to try to help prevent people from getting to those site that are potentially unsafe and harmful, but there are still ways that those harmful sites can get passed out software. Webroot Endpoint Protection is an antivirus software that offers endpoint protection and antivirus software that protects against online threats that may come by email, web browsing, URLs, and more (Guest Contributor, 2018). I could use this tool by implementing it on teachers’ computers to limit the amount of phishing emails, malware or ransomware that can get to them through their emails, which I have found is the most common place teachers experience some type of threat. This antivirus software could be used by someone in an IT environment because it offers fast protection on all device, and has a cloud-based management feature for users. It was designed to be an easy to use system that will not conflict with software or reimaging (Webroot, 2022). With their email protection IT departments know that their users have email encryption and secure file sharing between individuals within the business. Webroot also has a security awareness training that IT departments can send out to the employees, that allows for scheduled trainings and auto-run reports sent back to the IT department (Webroot, 2022).
