PLEASE GIVE AS MUCH EVIDENCE AS POSSIBLE TO SUPPORT YOUR ARGUMENTS

1-Germany and Japan share a number of similarities (and possibly differences) in their 19th Century history, their authoritarian governments in the first part of the 20th Century, and their post WW II experiences. Focus your comparisons especially on the political similarities and differences and briefly on economic similarities and differences in their 19th and 20th century development, but also bring comparison up to the present.

2-One of the most studied correlations in Comparative Politics is between quality of democracy and level of economic development. Although India has experienced post-WWII economic growth, it remains a poor country; yet it is also an impressively functioning democracy. What institutions are responsible for maintaining political stability in the context of poverty? Finally, do you see any challenges to India’s present democratic stability?
