Remember to include properly cited quotes from the critical source. As always, this will need to be typed (double-spaced) in MLA format with a works cited page.
Recommended total length: 4-5 pages

An introductory paragraph
Your introduction should present an overview of the primary text, relevant contextual information, a discussion of the scholarly conversation surrounding the text, and a descriptive claim of the selected secondary sources.
A summary of the argument of a critical article
You must find your articles using Jeff State’s online. Your source must be a literary criticism of “The Story of an Hour”
Be sure to include properly cited quotes from your critical article as part of your summary, probably 2-3 per body paragraph
A good paragraph response to the critical article which may include the following:
Your views of the critic’s argument – support these with a quote from the primary source (Chopin’s story).
**Make sure you quote your source article in your critique throughout and cite it each time using MLA format.
Use the quotes to initiate your discussion of the critic’s views.
Is the author of the article making a credible and logical argument?
Explain why you think it is a credible or logical argument, or why it is not.
Do you agree or disagree with the author of this article?
Explain.
How would you improve on the theory / idea presented in the article?
Repeat step 2 for a second article (preferably on the same or similar topic, but they both MUST be on Chopin’s story.)
