Office Depot Inc is a global supplier that focuses on the distribution of office products and services. The company was started in the year 1986 and was the first retail shop to exist in Fort Lauderdale, Florida (Office depot global, 2017). The company is involved in the trade of branded products to both small and medium sized enterprise.
Milestones from the Companies History.
Over 15.5 billion dollars of products and services were sold in 2007 to clients and businesses in different parts of the continent including the North American Retail Division, the International Division, and the division of business solutions. For sales to proceed successfully, different channels are involved (Office depot global, 2017). Office supply store, a contract sale force, a telephone account management sales force, sites on the internet, catalogs, and call centers.
The leadership model of the company is based on the theory of environmentalism and negative feedback. Environmentalism is focused on telling individuals things they should not do rather than celebrating what they indulge in. Negative feedback on the other hand is effective when trying to get rid of certain actions but it is not useful when positive changes are needed (Office depot global, 2017). The office branches are located in North and Central America, Europe, and Asia. The company prides itself on integrating top-brand technological innovation to empower a digital workplace (Product & Technology, n.d.). Technology has aided the company to put more selling power into the hands of its off-store level workers hence gaining a competitive advantage over its competitors.
