Phase 1 – Analytics Report
Introduction & Background
A survey conducted in 2010 of 26 metropolitan areas collects data on monthly consumer debt payments, yearly income, and unemployment rates based on where the consumer lives. The purpose of this survey is to compare the amounts paid toward consumers’ monthly debts in comparison to their annual household income and the unemployment rate. The cities surveyed are all metropolitan areas which are regions that consist of densely populated urban agglomerations and their surrounding territories sharing industries, commercial areas, transport networks, infrastructures, and housing. Variables in these figures could include family size, the cost of living, and interest rates.
