INSTRUCTIONS/GUIDELINES REQUESTED:

Use the following rubric (attached above) to make sure all criteria have been met.

Refer to attached PowerPoint (file name: Research proposal development PowerPoint) for a more detailed breakdown of what each part should include. PowerPoint also includes examples of each section to be included. Please try to match as closely as possible what professor has on example.

Attached you will also find a literature review matrix document, literature matrix PPTx, and a literature review word document with some articles that were used for a related assignment which information can be included in this assignment by pointing out research in each and elaborating on each according to criteria sections to be met. Please use the articles included in the attached documents (file names: 1. JC literature review and 2. JC literature review matrix). Nonetheless, after referencing each of the articles included in these, please feel free to find and add other supporting articles that would support the topic. NOTE: if you decide to find and include any additional articles, make sure they are within 10 years of 2022 and that they are evidence-based, and preferably primary sources.

Please use information in literature review word document (file name: JC literature review) and edit and expand on it accordingly.

USE APA7

Topic to be discussed:

Population–Mental Health patients diagnosed with either a substance use disorder (SUD) or major depressive disorder (MDD)

Intervention–Patient education and/or treatment options available

Comparison–None

Outcome–Decreased symptoms of MDD and/or decrease in substance use

Research question:

In patients that have been diagnosed with depression or a substance abuse disorder, what treatment options or patient education is available to help cope with symptoms and/or to help decrease the risk of developing a dual diagnosis (MDD/SUD)?
