While almost all of our films are transnational and global in at least some way, Okja deals with contemporary global issues very directly. For this discussion, focus on specific film elements in Okja in order to answer one of the following questions:
1. What is Okja’s message about the relationship between humans and animals? Between humans and the environment? Identity one scene in the film and discuss specific parts of that scene in answering this question.
2. What does Okja have to say about corporations and global capitalism? Are these things problems, solutions, or both? Use specific characters and film elements in your answer.
3. Is Korea in particular important to the film’s message, and if so, why? Okja is a Korean film and chooses to set a significant part of the film in Korea. Why?
Whichever question you choose to answer, make sure you reference specific film elements in your post!
