Administrative law agencies have been referred to as the
fourth branch of government. Yet, often the public is unaware of the roles of
these important entities, and do not realize that they have contact with
administrative law agencies on a regular basis at the local, state and federal
levels.  Consider these areas of
administrative law and administrative law agencies that are working at the local,
state and federal levels:

Research Code Enforcement  and consider the impact of the chosen
administrative law agency; explain how this agency and its employees impact the
average person and society under its jurisdiction.

Explain the rules, procedures, and/or regulations that this
agency acts upon. Your research should include an investigation into the
appeals process associated with the agency. That is, if any agency makes a
ruling one wishes to appeal, how do they appeal to and what is the appeals
process?

Examine the role and authority of the administrative agency,
and just as importantly, identify the areas in which the administrative agency
does not have authority.

Numerous constitutional limitations and restraints affect
administrative law agencies. That is, administrative agencies exercise broad
government powers, yet these agencies need to be conscious of specific
constitutional guarantees within the Bill of Rights, while also ensuring that
individuals are afforded due process of law.
Examine how this agency’s exercise of government power might be limited
by constitutional restraints.
