Part I: Emotions
Read through the conflict scenarios
downloadand choose the one you can most relate to your own experiences. Think of a recent situation in your own life that closely resembles the scenario. Using the Yale Blueprint
downloadhandout – in a paragraph (at least 10 sentences), – describe the situation and answer the questions in all four steps:
Step 1: Recognize and label the emotions felt during the incident (refer to the Vocabulary of Emotions download)
Step 2: Describe your understanding of what caused those feelings
Step 3: Explain how the feelings were expressed and regulated
Step 4: Reflect on how the situation was handled and possible next steps
Part II: Self-Disclosure
In Week 3, you had family and/ or friends help you complete your Johari Window. Read pages 318-319 of 6.4 Self-Disclosure and Interpersonal Communication downloadto re-familiarize yourself with the Johari Window. The activity from Week 3 was intended to help build self-awareness and increase our understanding of how others perceive us. Now that seven weeks have passed, in a paragraph (at least 10 sentences) reflect on:
how you’ve continued to build your self-awareness and assessing how others perceive you
whether your relationships with any of the individuals you asked to complete the Johari Window has changed/ become stronger? Please explain.
have any of the traits (if any) you selected for yourself in the hidden pane moved to the open/ arena pane?
