What is Poetry? By now, as readers of poetry, we’ve seen just how varied the forms, content, and speakers of
poetry really are, yet there must be something that underlies between all of that variance that
adds to the pool and history of this particular branch of literature.
Among all that variance, you will decide what is the must have common ground of poetry by
identifying its key traits by example in one specific poem.
Objective
List three of your own chosen/developed poetic tactics that must be present in order
for a piece of writing to be considered poetry.
Don’t just list three traits of a poem, describe what type of poem you get from those
three traits.
Use one specific poem to clearly demonstrate your 3 pronged claim with concise
details and explanation.
Use proper MLA in-text citations/Works Cited page to source your example poem.
Describe why your explanation of the necessary tactics of poetry is essential to
understand not only as writers/thinkers but as readers/college students/professionals/
people as well. In other words, why is it important to break down poetry into these essentials
and how does that connect into your own life?

answering he question what does one get when those three ingredients are present in a
work?
Organize your essay so that it is linked to your thesis statement.
Provide a conclusion that leaves us with what else we can think about when it comes
