As you build your career in emergency management, you will be challenged to identify and develop your own theoretical approach—which models or frameworks guide you in understanding the ‘why’ and ‘how’ of emergency management. This assignment aims to help you begin that process.
In a 3-4 page paper, reflect on the various articles you have read thus far in the class. Which research or theory seems most relevant to you in the practice of emergency management? In addition to a general reflection, your paper should include the following components: First, in what specific ways will you incorporate theory, research, and research findings into your own practice? Second, reflecting on the relationship between theory, research, and practice, propose two different potential research projects related to the scope of this course—whether more practice oriented, more data oriented, or more theory oriented—that you feel would be worthwhile to pursue. All sources should be cited using APA citation style.
