In class, you have studied the ethical dilemmas evoked by the Alice Goffman controversy. Inclass, you have also studied theoretical concepts required for “doing ethnographic work” in thefield through Kendall and Ladner’s essays. You will be using some of the questions raised by theAlice Goffman book “On the run” and some (any 2-3 concepts) of the concepts like Ethnographicwarrant, reflexivity, positivism, objectivism, subjectivism, involvement of the bias of theethnographer in the natives’ lives, etc.With these ideas, you will read and analyze the article on the Yanomami controversy andcritically examine some of the ethical issues and write your reflections on them.The article for reference and independent reading and analysis is attached in the assignmentmandate.
