You don’t have to stick to technologies in the categories shown above as this is clearly not an exhaustive list. You will be writing about one specific technology (not a category). Whatever technology you choose, you will need to include the following in the report:

  1. Title, including the name of the technology
  2. Who is developing the technology.
  3. What the technology is used for.
  4. Description of how the technology works (can include figures on separate pages)
  5. Any challenges or difficulties with developing or using the technology.
  6. Reference list
    Some example categories to investigate include:
    New and emerging sequencing technologies (nanopore, ion torrent, other)
    Varied forms of PCR (Real Time PCR, RAPD, other)
    Approaches to address ethical concerns of ES cell research (ANT, iPS cells, other)
    Gene therapy examples (Gendicine, Glybera, CAR-T cell)
    Format/Content
    The paper text should have 3 typewritten pages, double-spaced. It is acceptable to have your reference list on a separate, fourth page (as well as any figures/tables you may choose to include).

Any figures and/or tables should be labeled and referenced within the text just after the information pertaining to each. The actual figures should be added to the end of the report. Figures and tables are not required.

References should be listed at the end of the report as well as cited within the text. Please see the “citing references” section on the next page for acceptable formats. Choose one format and be consistent.
