See the sample Response in the Files for the format.
General instructions are below. I will also give suggestions in class.

5 Reading Responses @ 30%. You’ll be required to type 5 reading responses of at least two full, double-spaced, bulleted pages. In some cases you have the option to choose between two texts. RRs can be on any combination of any of the following suggested prompts (or combination thereof): A) List and elaborate on the top three to five questions the text raises; B) Detail three to five ways to apply a particular theory (such as ecocriticism, feminism, existentialism, psychoanalysis, etc.) to a text; C) Identify and elaborate on what you find to be the most intriguing, ambiguous, or puzzling aspects of a text; D) comment on the author’s deployment of the elements of literature (e.g., character, plot, dialog, setting, theme, symbolism, etc.). E) Identify and elaborate on what you find to be the top three to five things non-English majors need to know about this text to increase their cultural capital and/or enhance their life skills. You are welcome to invent your own discussion prompts. Most of your points should be well-developed (roughly 6 to 12 lines). The purpose of the reading responses is to demonstrate that you have read and reflected on set texts. You may use RRs as building blocks for essays.
