This is a Cultural Autobiography Product:
Write a 6-8 page, well-organized, grammatically correct essay (double-spaced) that summarizes and analyzes what you have learned about yourself as a result of this inquiry process. Conclude the paper by describing how this new knowledge can improve your effectiveness as a future teacher/leader. Consider the following questions in your essay:
1) How do you identify yourself? (Refer to at least 11 of the 12 topics provided by the “sources of cultural identity” diagram, figure 3.2, pg. 79 in the text) or follow the questions from the power point. You have multiple ways to approach the assignment.
2) How have the people in your life assisted in creating who you are? Who are your role models? Why are they your role models?
3) What are some of the hidden rules or knowledge in your culture that are not openly shared with others that an outsider might violate without knowing? (Example: Father had a favorite chair NO ONE ever sat in.)
4) What authentic memories do you have that can be included?
5) Discuss the strengths that your cultural identity gives you as a potential teacher/leader?
6) What cultural biases or blind spots will you need to address as you become a teacher/leader?
