ADMINISTRATIVE JUSTICE CLASS:200 WORDS OR LESS

The U.S. Constitution was written to create the federal government.  The first ten amendments referred to as the Bill of Rights was written to place restraints on power and authority of  the federal govt thus granting individual rights to the citizens of the country.  However, the Bill of Rights was a federal document applying only to the federal govt and having no application to state and local governments.  In 1868 the 14th amendment,  which was directed at the states was passed by congress.  The federal courts using the due process and equal protection clause of the 14th amendment began imposing what they perceived as those fundamental rights contained in the Bill of rights on state and local governments.

After reading chapter two and reviewing the Bill or Rights tell me what are the four most fundamental rights you perceive in the Bill of Rights. Why are they the most important, have they had impact on our country’s history, or do they impact individual lives on a daily basis.

Remember you have to write at least two hundred words and respond to two other student’s post with at least five thoughtful and relevant sentences.
