DISCUSSION 2Nurs 510: Policy Organization and Financing Healthcare
Week 1: Discussion 1
Health care is the most consideration in our life spending in The United Stated because it is so expensive to have access to a good healthcare system.  As a result, a large number of people lacked access to healthcare and did not qualify for government assistance. That is why those people suffer when they become ill, especially in a pandemic situation. According to Mary Gerisch, 2018, “Health Care As a Human Right”, she said: “The right to health care has long been recognized internationally. Ironically, the origins of this right are here in the United States. Health care was listed in the Second Bill of Rights drafted by Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR).” However, we never have that Second Bill of Rights working right as Franklin’s declaration after his death.
The Covenant on Economic, Social and Cultural and Rights (CESCR) further clarified, in Article 12, “The right of everyone to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of physical and mental health.”, “States must protect this right by ensuring that everyone within their jurisdiction has access to the underlying determinants of health, such as clean water, sanitation, food, nutrition, and housing, and through a comprehensive system of health care, which is available to everyone without discrimination, and economically accessible to all, (Assembly, 2017)” In the United State, We don’t have an open-access health-care system; instead, we have a healthcare insurance system that tightly regulates each authority providing healthcare services. Due to poor communication and services, several people died as a result of insurance policies that were “cost-prohibitive” or “delay of acceptance.”
I believe that as a basic necessary element of human life, we should all have access to the healthcare system to defend our health. Every single one of us knew what was more essential in our lives: money or health. There is always a conflict between these two topics. When we only have the bare necessities of life, we don’t give a damn about living a healthy life. To survive, all we need to do is fill our stomachs. However, when people become more secure with their finances, they begin to think about their health and place a greater emphasis on healthcare access. Whatever we do in life, our health should always be a top priority to be concerned about and safeguarded. If you have a billion dollars but aren’t healthy, your money is worthless.
