The metastructure concepts of data, information, knowledge, and wisdom (DIKW paradigm) can be transformed in many areas of healthcare for generating knowledge and advancing healthcare delivery. Using all 4 concepts provide an example of DIKW application as it pertains to a process of quality improvement such as the transition of care for patients being discharged to primary care follow-up.
