Capstone Options and Comparison
My topic centers on the impact of Covid-19 on the community in relation to the vaccine as it reduces the hospitalization and death rates. According to data, the vaccine reduces hospital and death rates by about 63% (Moghadas, 2020). I chose this topic because as an epidemiologist, I got firsthand experience through fieldwork, data analysis, and other epidemiological methods to see the effect of covid on the community and how they responded to the vaccine. I also got to see how social determinants, value, and cultural factors and more affected the community with resources (mass vaccination, free testing, and more) they had and the decision they made to either get treated, take the vaccine, and the outcomes. The capstone option I choose is the secondary data analysis; this option gives me the raw data on information such as vaccination, hospitalization, and state of living status, and symptomatic/asymptomatic, and more. These data are available from 2020 to Current, therefore, I will be able to compare the effect of covid on my community before and after the distribution of the vaccine.
