Introduction (300 – 450 words)
The introduction should:
• describe what you are going to do in the assignment, be clear and concise
• define attachment and bonding and provide an appropriate context for reviewing the literature
• explain the organisation – i.e. sequence – of your literature review
• state the scope of the review – i.e. what is included and what isn’t included. For example, if you were reviewing the literature on bonding and attachment relate to an example you have observed in practice Main body (2400 words)
The middle or main body should:
• organise the literature according to common themes;
• critically analyse the literature on attachment and bonding and provide an appropriate context for reviewing the literature
• provide insight into the relation between attachment and bonding and the wider subject area e.g. parenting
• move from a general, wider view of the literature being reviewed to the specific focus relating to practice. Conclusion (300 – 450 words)
The conclusion should:
• summarise the important aspects of the existing body of literature
• evaluate the current state of the literature reviewed
• identify significant flaws or gaps in existing knowledgeReferences should be made to Bowlby, Ainsworth and other prominent researchers on infant-parental/maternal bondign and attachment
