The assignment should include: 1) social problem issue/research question being examined; 2) background information of the country and its relation with question/issue (in 1); 3) data on the level of social problems and how they relate with 1 and 2; and 4) conclusion of your exploratory study.Step 1:  Learn about your country. What is the name of the country and where it is located? What is the population size of the country? What are important social, political, economic, and cultural, etc. issues in the country? Google and Wikipedia are good starting points for exploring a topic. You may also consult U.S Central Intelligence Agency’s World Factbook (https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/docs/profileguide.html ) and/or the U.S State Department (http://www.state.gov/countries/). The New York Times, The Washington Post, NPR/PBS, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, The Guardian, BBC, and CNNare generally considered as credible news outlets.Step 2: Select Social problem issue(s) related. You may conduct an online search for publicly available articles from reputable academic journals/magazines/newspapers and reports from established organizations/think tanks on the issue. Think in terms of the research question. Why is the issue/question important?Step 3:Extract data for your social problem/variable from the WDI. Be sure to explain your variable, how it wasmeasured, source, etc. How do the data relate to the issue/questionyou are analyzing? What’s the takeaway of your exploratory study? You must demonstrate the application of class material (concepts, theories, etc.) in your presentation.
