Analysis of City and neighborhood of parent’s residence

Once you have gathered the necessary information and data, write a report and present the information in a format that is easy to understand, with short explanations and numerical figures.  The introduction should introduce the neighborhood, then in the body discuss the characteristics of the neighborhood both from your own experience and based on the statistics you collected.  Percentages give us a better idea of contexts than raw numbers, and comparing the neighborhood with the same numbers for California crucial.  Conclude the paper with a brief highlight of what you learned that was new from this assignment and how your analysis helps you make decisions about where you will choose to live.  The report should be no longer than four to five pages.  Any numbers you cite must be labelled and include the citation to the source. You may have lived in the neighborhood where your parents have established a household, but you probably do not know the social characteristics of that neighborhood. These characteristics are important for understanding the inhabitants of the neighborhood, what happens in the neighborhood, and what opportunities are available. The characteristics you are being asked to discover are basic social characteristics such as the race, ethnicity, gender, age distribution, life expectancy at birth, educational attainment, household incomes, distribution of occupations, as well as what is spent on local schools, expenditure on public libraries, and housing affordability. Here is what you want to find out:1. Consumer price index (at BLS) 2. Median Earnings3. Poverty figure (percent of population in poverty)4. What is the per pupil spending for the high school you attended, and how does that compare to the state average or to the average for the county.5. Housing affordability (both rental and owning)6. Occupational characteristics of the area7. Life expectancy at birth8. Racial and ethnic make-up of the area9.
