Topic: HopeWorks (http://www.whyhopeworks.org)

General Purpose: to persuade

Specific Purpose: to persuade my audience to participate in changing the lives of the poor, homeless and the convicts. This can be done by offering financial support, voluntary services as well as scholarships for individuals who desire to go back to school but lack the finances through HopeWorks.

Central Idea/Preview:After giving you details on the increased problem of the poor, the ex-convicts and the homeless in our present community, I hope to offer persuasion to you so that you can improve these people’s lives through the available volunteer programs at HopeWorks.

Body:

Point 1: Whom does this organization seek to benefit or help?

The HopeWorks Foundation seeks to benefit the lives of the homeless, poor, and the chronically unemployed by offering them a second chance to life through housing, feeding, learning, and employment programs (HopeWorks). It also seeks to transform the minds of such individuals through faith based programs that will increase their knowledge of God.

Point 2: What are you asking us to do? (Such as volunteer to be a mentor, etc.)

I am urging you to volunteer as faith encouragers or lunch providers. The responsibility of the faith encourager is to ensure that beneficiaries are thoroughly taught the word of God. On the other hand, lunch providers offer healthy meals for the foundation. You can also participate by offering donations in cash or kind as well as education sponsorships for students at HopeWorks Foundation.

Point 3: How might our participation be of benefit?

To others. It will improve the lives of ex-convicts, the homeless, unemployed as well as the poor by offering them a second chance to life through reading. Spiritual knowledge will transform their minds and character (Wilson).

To ourselves. The volunteer will acquire valuable experience as well as ultimate satisfaction (Argyl 45).
