Define the purpose, goals, and objectives of the database as determined by the scenario
The core purpose of the database is to monitor pizza orders made late in the night, respond to instructions issued by the customer, showcase the different pizzas available and their limited topping list, and consolidate the total price of customers’ orders. The database is designed to track orders based on their location for marketing, research, and development. The goal and objective of the new business are to make profits and open new stores in different locations.
Assess the user requirements associated with the database according to its owners and stakeholders.
The database is designed to have information regarding the pizza types offered by Cougar Pizza Pies. Once the customer selects the type to order, the database should consolidate the bill. The database should also collect information such as delivery location, date and time, and the customer’s information. Other relevant information includes the staff who took the order and the one who delivered.
Explain the business processes and restrictions that the database addresses in support of the user requirements
The owners of the Cougar Pizza would want to know whether their new business is breaking even, and thus the database is envisioned to collect the information deemed essential for marketing and research. Therefore, the database should track the contacts of their customers and their location. Also, the database should allow the customer to include special information such as home location and change it when they move. However, the database should have restrictions such as their preferred address.
Explain what the end result of the database should be as determined by the scenario
The end result of the database should be easy in its operation and also friendly to the user. Therefore, the database should allow its users to include special information and be able to update it. The owners also envision opening up new stores in different locations, and therefore the database is mandated to gather enough information relevant for research and marketing once the stores are opened.
