Chapter 13

Writing a good report requires an understanding of the purpose, audience, and ethical standards. In my project report, I will apply the principle of drafting report content by introducing a body and a close. I will ensure that my introduction establishes the context, identifies the subject, and previews the central ideas in the report. I will also ensure that I have a body that discusses the primary and secondary sources where information is obtained.

I will use infographics as they convey data and ideas or concepts. I will provide adequate visual and textual information in the infographics to act as standalone documents that speak broadly to the audience. I will ensure to catch the attention of the reader through the infographics.

I will observe the principle of ethical writing by considering all possible interpretations and misinterpretations. Where I have visuals, I will try not to imply cause-and-effect relationships without offering proof they exist. I will also avoid emotional manipulation or other forms of coercion.

When using tables, I will use the principle of data representation by using common, understandable units. I will clearly express all items in a column with the same units and label column headings and subheadings. I will separate columns or rows with lines.

If I have any supplementary information to provide, I will ensure it comes after the close. The appendices section will contain any additional information related to the report but not included in the main text because it lacks direct relevance or is too long. I will also make sure to have a bibliography list for the secondary sources used.
