For this essay, you will be using any 2-3 of the texts listed above to craft an argument in response to the following:

Taken together, what do your chosen articles tell us about the factors that most heavily influence an individual’s personal choices? Consider the different ideas presented by both/all of your authors, and craft an argument discussing how they come together as a set of overall ideas about what things (types of people, social forces, goals, fears, etc.) have the greatest influence on a person’s individual choices.

As always, you’ll need to thoroughly analyze all of your chosen texts and have a solid understanding of the main claims being made by each. Be sure to maintain close contact with the question and the texts, and use the texts as the basis for your answer.

Your essay should be well-argued and well-organized. Be sure to state a thesis and consistently support your ideas with relevant textual evidence and thoughtful analysis. You should follow MLA format for all in-text citations and format your paper according to the MLA guidelines presented in your textbook. Remember to include a title that captures your argument. Make use of the Writing Center, and see me with any questions.

Reminders:

If you do not submit a full rough draft prior to the final draft deadline, the grade for your final draft will be lowered by one half letter.
