Final Culminating Project
For this project, you will create a mentoring program that you would like to implement in your department. Make sure to select from the following types of programs:
One-on-One mentoring
E-mentoring
Reverse Mentoring, i.e., younger employees mentoring older employees on technology or social media applications.
Peer Mentoring Groups
Group Mentoring
Write up a proposal for your command staff using the Mentoring Program Rubric. Your written project should be written in APA format, however, if you would rather write it in more of a “memo” form (i.e. agency letterhead, etc.), that would be acceptable also. It should be typed, double-spaced, and using Times-New Roman 12-point font. It is also recommended that your project be at least 5-7 pages in length, not including a cover page or references (which are also strongly suggested to be included in your proposal).
When you have addressed each of the rubric requirements, submit the proposal to your instructor for feedback. He will then review your draft, make any content, structure, and grammatical suggestions for edits and then send his reviewed copy back to you. Please give your instructor at least 48 hours to conduct their review and return it to you. Once you have reviewed the instructor’s feedback and made any necessary updates, edits, or changes, upload your project for final grading.
Your instructor would request that you submit your written project to him by first e-mailing him a copy of it in Microsoft Word. This way, he can make suggested edits directly in your typed-written paper before returning it to you. He will then review it for content, structure and grammar, and inclusion of all of the requirements of the project’s rubric. He will then return this pre-graded to the student for any edits or corrections. You can e-mail your Term Project to him at:
Here are some of the central areas that need to be addressed in your Mentoring Project Proposal:
1. What is the “design” of your program going to look like? What is/are your justification(s) for your program? Why is it needed? Who will be benefitting from the mentoring program? What “costs” (if any) will there be and how will that be addressed?
2. How are you planning on attracting participants to your program? Will it be voluntary? Mandated? Will there be any “incentives” for participants? If so, what? If not, why?
3. What is the strategy for connecting mentors and mentees together? How will any issues (i.e. personality, etc.) be mitigated?
4. What is the process for guiding mentor relations? How will your program be monitored? And by whom?
5. How are you going to measure if your program is or has been a success?
These are just five of the central components that you will want to address in your proposal.
Also, at some point, you will also be requested to upload the proposal to your e-portfolio. The Post-Test and Culminating Project for this course assesses your culminating knowledge of the learning outcomes for this course.
