Portfolio #5
Extension of Portfolio# 4.
Due Date: December 15th, 2021
It is the culmination of your research essay which will end in Portfolio#5. For this final assignment, you will extend your Portfolio# 4 in a more meaningful way with a well-structured five-paragraph essay. This final essay will allow you to practice using some of the skills developed over the course of this term, like using an in-text citation, direct citation, proper APA, examples and incorporating meaningfully academic articles & research into your writing.
In simpler words, your essay shall be loaded with meaningful sentences.
At this stage, you are completely familiar with your topic. Now, follow these steps to write a successful research essay.
(1) Read, and Conduct rigorous research on you topic and GO to Portfolio# 4 sources (Annotated Bibliography) to accumulate more ideas.

StopUsing the databases available through St. Clair College’s library services (https://www.stclaircollege.ca/library)/Research gate/ google scholar, find at least (10 to 12 ) scholarly sources to support your ideas.
Using an annotated bibliography (portfolio#4) for your references is a great idea; annotated bibliography will help you enrich your ideas for your Final Research Essay.

Wikipedia
Personal blogs
Tabloid newspapers or magazines
(2) Structure more your ideas into a research essay using one of the formatting strategies discussed in class.
Use the five-paragraph-essay, if this is what you are comfortable with.
Include a clear thesis statement in the introductory paragraph.
Be sure your ideas in the body of your essay are fully developed, which means that are explained and not just stated. Complete all thoughts so the reader can clearly understand the consistency and coherence of your thoughts.
Incorporate the research (Portfolio#4 )you found into the body paragraphs of your essay to support your ideas.
Each idea discussed in the body of the essay must include at least one in-text citation: a summary, a paraphrase, or a quotation.
Caution! do not overuse direct quotations/citations; they should only be used in rare circumstances as the original words of author are particularly memorable to different time and space.
The conclusion should wrap-up your essay and reiterate the thesis, along with the key points of the essay.
Maintain a reference list to keep track of all your sources.
Include a title that clearly states what the paper is about.
(3)Write a draft and get it edited from a friend or a family person.
(4) Revise.
(5) Final Version

(6) APA-Style Citation: Required Elements
Title Page: must include the following elements –
Running Head
Title of Essay
Your Name Professor name
St. Clair College
Each page must be numbered, including the title page; the number must be located in the top right-hand corner.
There must be a running header; along the top of each page, you must include the title of the essay as the header. On the title page only, you must type: Running Header: [title of your essay]
Use proper formatting for in-text citations (Author (last name), year).
Use an APA-style References list at the end of the essay to document all the sources cited in your paper.
