RESPONSE 1

In nursing, evidence-based practice is collecting information acquired from a variety of trustworthy sources, critically assessing it, and then making an educated choice on the most effective intervention to utilize to improve patients’ outcomes (Goodman, 2013). As a result, evidence-based care is often considered as the gold standard for providing clients with competent and patient-centered treatment. Despite its advantages, evidence-based practice adoption in the healthcare system is still low. Cost implications, ethical difficulties, a scarcity of appropriate personnel, and a lack of a standardized curriculum in nursing education to encourage the adoption of evidence-based practice in the workplace are all factors that have contributed to this.

The biggest challenge in finding a solution to evidence-based nursing practice in my business is organizational policy. Every healthcare facility has its own set of policies for providing patient care. Healthcare practitioners in my business are obligated to follow protocols and interventions that have previously been developed. This often puts nurses in an ethical and professional bind, particularly when using evidence-based practice in healthcare. The organizational policy has the overall effect of discouraging nurses from using evidence-based practice practices.

To remedy the problem, the organization must change its policy so that nurses feel empowered to use evidence-based practice in their clinical work. It is, however, critical to ensure that patient safety is not jeopardized in the process. In this sense, ensuring that nurses are sufficiently educated and proficient in evidence-based practice may improve patient safety. This may be accomplished by encouraging nurses to engage in lifetime learning and higher education programs, such as BSN and doctorate degrees. This will help them apply research to nursing practice, which is needed by evidence-based practice.

RESPONSE 2

Nurses are the primary care providers, and they play a major role in translating the evidence into actual practice while caring for the patients.  In my organization management support is an issue for the smooth implementation of the EBP. Managers should take a more visible role in mentoring nurses for EBP and in identifying the developmental needs of nurses’ competencies. The organization’s management structure plays a critical role in providing the necessary leadership and framework that would facilitate the adoption of the proposed change. For this reason, the support of an organization’s management is crucial to ensure the successful implementation of evidence-based projects (Horev & Babad, 2005).

In healthcare units identified as attractive to nurses, transformational managerial leadership has been used to promote a positive attitude towards research knowledge and strengthen sustainability in EBP implementation. Successful nurse managers have supported the emergence of an operational culture favorable to EBP and have created strategies and participatory structures related to EBP implementation, while also improving the smooth running of related processes. The managers themselves require peer support and opportunities for collaborative learning to clarify their roles (Melnyk et al., 2018).
