We will be using an online version of the beer game. In this simulation exercise, you will play the role of an inventory manager in a beer production and distribution supply chain. It’s a simple linear supply chain that consists of four stages (retailer, wholesaler, distributor and manufacturer), and you will manage one of these stages.
The instructor will assign your role before the game starts and will provide you with the website to the simulation.
Teams will be graded on participation and performance.
20 points will be awarded for completing the simulation.
Distribution of the remaining points will be awarded out based on how well your team performs.
The objective of this game is to demonstrate the importance of real-time communication and effective decision-making in supply chains, and to show how the biases in decision-making influences supply chain performance. Your goal in this exercise is to minimize the total cost in your supply chain for the entire duration of the simulation.
