ARTISTIC EXPRESSION – CONCEPT OF CARING

PART 1

Then one day, I woke up and felt sick, which I rarely feel. Before going to class, I felt great and was ready to go. Then I felt terrible, and my stomach hurt. I had to leave class early to go to the hospital. I thought I had a fever when I went to the doctor because I shook so much. The nurse gave me a lot of tools, took my temperature, asked me a lot of questions, and listened.

A doctor told me that I had to have an ultrasound, and he told me to call my family, but I told him I didn’t have any close friends in the area. The doctor called a nurse to give her an update on my health and told her to go with me to the ultrasound to get the results. The nurse was very kind and gave me a clean gown to wear while taking me into the ultrasound room. I went to the doctor with the ultrasound results and was told that I would have surgery to remove my appendix. The nurse smiled and said that everything would be fine and that she would take care of me.

Everything was a haze when I awoke in the recovery room following my surgery. When I woke up in intensive care, a nurse told me that the operation to remove part of my appendix had been successful and that I might expect to be sent home soon after. The nurse was always there for me, giving me support, confidence, and courage when I didn’t have them. Watching her, I felt her warmth and charm. I also felt how kind she was and how well she kept my dignity.

PART 2

Taking care of others is a moral commitment that lends nursing a social mandate and a feeling of service identity. Nurses must be empathetic, supportive, and confident while establishing a relationship with a patient. A nurse must be well-prepared, creative, adaptable, and thorough in their approach to patient care. Nurse may be unable to convey their requirements if they don’t know how to apply care in their practice. They will make many mistakes and may not connect with your patients. To do our jobs as nurses effectively, we must first understand and respect the essence of caring for others.

We can connect with our patients in the nursing pillar because we care. More openness and sharing of needs are more likely if a solid connection is made between them. Taking care of someone is a combination of caring and critical thinking since you’re thinking about how to be courteous in the caretaking role and how to begin the interview process (Cook & Peden, 2016). Caring science can be practiced in a nursing home and complementary therapy to cure. Nurses use it to show their patients that they care about them. It enhances one’s understanding of generosity, autonomy, human dignity, integrity, and social fairness. In addition, it allows us to be sensitive to the needs of our patients while also making sure that we are safe and that the treatment we give is high-quality.

Jean Watson encouraged nurses to adopt societal laws that cherished humanity’s unity, protected patient care, and upheld human dignity when human life was in danger. During her phenomenological inquiry into care, Watson (2021) recognized components of all ten creative processes within her defined five caring processes. It’s tough to pin down a single description of the concept of care since it encompasses so many different ideas, attitudes, and actions (Watson, 2021). Watson (2021) believes that human connection and compassion are significant sources of healing and are also essential for the caregiving of the elderly. She believed they could become robotic and rigid when not delivering care. Caring science can be practiced in a nursing home and complementary therapy to cure.

As a nurse, you should allow your patients to apply their beliefs to their treatment. They will be more appreciative of the attention they get due to this. A nurse must empathize with individuals and build a relationship with their patients or families through care. Assisting patients and putting their faith in them helps communication in a nursing setting. Because of care, a nurse can use decision-making when an order does not appear to be proper. People are more willing to share their personal information with you if they feel trustworthy. Care builds trustworthiness and necessitates that we need to interfere and suggest new solutions when something doesn’t seem right. Your knowledge of the possible side effects of this medicine can be used to explain why you would not provide it (Cook & Peden, 2016). As a nurse, you are ultimately responsible for the patient’s well-being; thus, it is critical to know when to utilize decision-making. Teaching and learning help patients better understand their diagnosis and how to care for their illnesses.

Setting the groundwork and seeking to improve yourself so that your patient might recover is what caring is all about. As a new nurse, you should be encouraged to know your patients and their families as much as possible. When it comes to their health and well-being, we need to connect with them. Because of the emphasis on care that nursing places on it, it is wrong to assume that other occupations are heartless because of this. Expertise in care may help other professions in the same way that physical and social science understanding can help nurses. Improved linkages between nursing care and positive outcomes for patients are needed.
