Genre – what kind of a text is it?

What is the thesis or argument? (usually clear in the title and abstract)

What is your critical response?

Does the stance/author agree, disagree, partly agree with your thesis statement?

Is it evidence for or against your thesis statement.

Is there any weakness or omission in the author’s argument?

Connection/difference / similarity / new idea – to the other two sources?

Choose a specific point to critically analyse from the texts

Be explicit – how does this point relate to your thesis statement?

What is the most interesting / problematic / controversial / noteworthy specific point? Here you can use a short quote to focus on and analyse.

Avoid Plagiarism! Direct quotes “…”

In your CCR only quote half a line. Longer quotes are problematic. Focus on summarising and paraphrasing in your own words.
