Researched Argument Assignment II-CSU
For this assignment, you will be writing a researched argument where you will take a stand on a controversial issue and utilize sources on both sides. You will need to fairly see the other side and then refute it. Use your notes from pages 170-184. Part 3 Section 13.
STEP 1: Formulate a research question. It helps if the topic is about an issue that’s close to your interests or experience. You may switch topics, but you will have to find more sources and notify me in advance.
STEP 2: Write a one page research proposal with a thesis that CLEARLY states your position on the issue.
STEP 3: Find at least FIVE credible sources from the Central State Library. All other sources must also be credible/reliable.
STEP 4: Write a three to four page annotated bibliography.
STEP 5: Write an outline that includes a rebuttal.
STEP 6: Write a paper persuading your audience to agree with you about an arguable, controversial issue.
The paper should meet the following requirements:
Contain 6-8 pages in length-see rubric (this does not include Works Cited)
Based on research from at least 3 Central State sources
MLA Format
Contain signal words and phrases-see handouts
Contain transitions-see handout
Argues your side
Refutse the other side
Contains in text citations that correlate with the Works Cited page-If this is not done, you have plagiarized your paper and will receive an F. This the end of the semester; therefore, a “redo” will NOT be allowed; the F will stand and you will not pass the course
