Family’s type

The family is a middle-class family composed of a father, a mother, and a son.  The age of the father and mother is forty-two and forty-four years respectively. The son is six years old. The mother is an employed woman working as a senior clinical liaison at a critical care hospital. The husband is an accountant who works from home. The family is living in a single-family house that belongs to the couple. The couple has been married for thirteen years, and the family is happy since they live healthily and nothing is hindering their happiness. The family is financially stable, and the grandparents are the biggest supporters of the family since the husband’s parents are the ones who drop and get the six-year-old to school.

Cultural background, Home, Community Environment, Religious Affiliation

The family is an American-Polish family living in a single-family owned house in the Linden American community. Polish is their primary language since both their parents are from Poland. They practice polish culture, and whatever the family participates in goes in hand with Polish culture. Their son is a big fan of Polish culture since their son is involved in polish activities such as Boy Scout groups. Since both, the couples are employed, and the family has their own home, there is an indication that the family is having the best of their lives. They are both Roman Catholics and go to church every other Sunday.

Developmental Stage and History of Family

A1 enjoys the family interaction with his wife and their son. The husband is willing to help the wife with house chores since the husband works from home and does not get exhausted like his wife, who works with patients. The family developmental stages are now generativity versus stagnation since both the couples are in their early forties. Adults struggle to complete their goals for the life they want to live when they are old. Their son’s stage is industry versus inferiority, and at this age, the son focused on making his own decisions and becoming independent.  According to Erickson, children at this stage have many expectations from parents both at home and at school since they need praise for their accomplishments.

Family Structure and Friedman Family Assessment

A1 is a family man who loves his family so much. He loves his wife, and she helps her majorly in-home chores since her wife has a lot to do at work and gets home when she is tired. Both parents of A1 are still alive and live in the same town with their son. The wife’s mother went back to Poland when their dad died due to cancer when she was four years old. The wife plays her role effortlessly, and she is hardworking at home and work. The family value education so much, and their son attends a private school where they make sure their son is comfortable since A1 parents drop off and pick up their grandson every day from school. Food is available at home since both the couples are working, none of the family members is sick, and all are in good health.  Mother is working full time; hence having time for leisure and recreational activities is hard, but their son is active and plays karate and attends piano lessons.

Family Stressors and Coping

The husband’s long working hours are the main contributor to the family’s stressors. A1 works for very long hours and does not have enough time for the family, especially his son. The father cannot help his son complete school activities and spend time with him, forcing the mother to strain since balancing work and home duties. The family adapts to the crisis very well since, both the couples are working; hence, financial issues are not a problem for them (Beer, 2021). The only family stressors are the husband working for too long and the mother straining to balance her job and family. A1 family follows a healthy diet; hence, the family does not have difficulties with problems relating to health.

Healthy people Objective

Hereditary diseases, including cancer and diabetes, are among the main contributors and leading causes of death among the people of America. Healthy people 2030 goal is to eliminate health discrepancies to attain improved health and well-being. Healthy people 2030 ensures that such diseases are eliminated from society and reduced mortality rate.

Care plan related to family A condition

A1 will have to take some interventions to help the family overcome the problems they are going through in the family. Some involvements to help family A1 and the rest of the family members manage the condition effectively include the creation of time to ensure that the family has enough time to go out together and play with their son, learn new skills on how to deal with excess work, and identify the strengths and weaknesses and use them to look for ways that will help them accomplish their goal (Beer, 2021). The family can also try to create time and exercise together to ensure that the family gives their son enough time to mingle and play together.

Conclusion

The Friedman Family Assessment model assists in assessing the family and helps establish interventions for the family. The assessment tool is crucial in understanding the family, the family members’ history and developmental stages, and other information about a family. From the assessment of the A1 family, the structure and function of the family, the history of the family, and interventions for the family were all assessed and identified.
