Working at Stony Brook Hospital can be overwhelming sometimes, but what gets me through would be the Overtime pay. I remember when I started working during Covid, I was required to do the “Covid Screening”. I would ask incoming patients questions such as, “Have you recently have any fever, cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, weakness, etc.” but some of these patients were complaining and asking why it was required for them to answer these simple questions, and sometimes they would demand to speak with a manger.

I have maintained a really good job attendance. I mostly work overnight shift, but the only time I have missed work was from last March 2021 due to Covid related symptoms. I was out from work for about two weeks, and luckily those two weeks I was paid. Nowadays, you’re only allowed to take off at least 3-5 days off from work if you’re experiencing Covid.

During the rise of Covid, there were times where a lot of my coworkers were out of work because of Covid symptoms, and I was required to fill in the day shift and it made me upset because I was sleep deprived. A lot of my coworkers decided to quit because of the overwhelming of patients that were coming in and attacking my coworkers in a bad verbal manner.
