Be specific and provide examples.<\/p>\n<p> APA format and 3 references <\/p>\n<p> Then respond to a peer with 2 references <\/p>\n<p> Peer 1 <\/p>\n<p> The healthcare policy I chose is S. 3098, S.3098 -is the Preventive Care Awareness Act of 2021.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> S. 3098 will\u00a0provide\u00a0national public\u00a0health\u00a0information\u00a0and\u00a0focus\u00a0on people in a lower income bracket\u00a0who\u00a0have\u00a0forgone\u00a0services during the COVID-19 pandemic.\u00a0This bill\u00a0would\u00a0also create\u00a0a task\u00a0force to\u00a0promote\u00a0preventative\u00a0care\u00a0and\u00a0development programs\u00a0in rural\u00a0and\u00a0underserved\u00a0populations.\u00a0Its\u00a0primary\u00a0focus is\u00a0teaching\u00a0low-income\u00a0Americans the\u00a0benefits of\u00a0preventive\u00a0healthcare. This\u00a0bill\u00a0is\u00a0in\u00a0committee\u00a0and\u00a0has\u00a0bipartisan\u00a0support\u00a0(Bell et al., 2017).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> Reading\u00a0this proposed\u00a0bill,\u00a0I asked myself\u00a0whether\u00a0it\u00a0is\u00a0lower-income\u00a0Americans who\u00a0have\u00a0forgone\u00a0preventative\u00a0treatment\u00a0during\u00a0COVID\u00a0or Americans\u00a0in general.\u00a0Preventive\u00a0screenings\u00a0have\u00a0long\u00a0been\u00a0advocated as\u00a0one of the most\u00a0valuable\u00a0ways\u00a0to\u00a0facilitate early\u00a0diagnosis\u00a0and treatment\u00a0of\u00a0disease.\u00a0Cancer\u00a0screenings\u00a0have\u00a0helped\u00a0lower\u00a0the\u00a0US\u00a0cervical cancer death\u00a0rate\u00a0by\u00a050%\u00a0in\u00a0the last\u00a0three\u00a0decades (2022).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> According to the American Medical Association, more than 40% of Americans surveyed stopped preventative medical care as covid-19 began\u00a0(Timothy M. Smith,\u00a0Senior News Writer, 2020).\u00a0\u00a0This number included Americans of all economic levels. I believe no proof was found that only lower-income Americans skipped screenings during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p> According to the Joint Commission, patients with lower health literacy did not see the importance of\u00a0preventative\u00a0care during COVID-19\u00a0(The Joint Commission, 2022).\u00a0I believe\u00a0there is evidence-based\u00a0support for increasing education for all Americans regarding the importance of\u00a0preventive\u00a0health screenings, And indeed more teaching to Americans with a lower understanding of their health. This bill was given only a 3% chance of passing into law.
