This task investigates the types of emotional responses a viewer might have to a media element. You\u2019ll explore these topics by analyzing a successful advertising campaign of Chipotle’s. First take a look a the three levels of emotional design. <\/p>\n
Visceral Design: Calls upon on our instinctive reactions toward social status, sex appeal, danger avoidance, and fundamental survival needs.
Behavioral Design: Addresses our immediate practical needs, focusing on innovative features, ease of use, and “must have qualities” of a product.
Reflective Design: Calls upon rational though and cultural standards in order to emphasize long-term benefits.
Next, watch the Scarecrow video a few more times. Pay close attention to how the ad makes you feel and the elements of the ad that bring out those emotions. <\/p>\n
Once you have had time to consider the ad, post your observations to the discussion board below addressing the following prompts:<\/p>\n
What emotions were the creators of this commercial hoping to evoke in their viewers?
Which one or more of the three levels of emotional design did the commercial operate on: visceral, behavioral, or reflective?
What elements of the commercial played a part in inspiring these levels of emotion in the viewer? Refer to specific examples from the video, and the level of emotional design that was addressed. Consider all aspects of the media, including the characters, imagery, symbolism, and music.
